What is PIVOT?

PIVOT (the Point of Interest Visual Optimization Tool) is a mobile app that reveals to users what places looked like in the past - showing authenticated histories of locations (from everyday places to popular tourist attractions), through images, videos, and text-audio. End users can also store and share their most pivotal moments through "shoebox archiving" (the method of digitizing memories and old shoeboxes of photographs). 

 

We then take that institutional information and weigh your pivotal moments to produce a more meaningful personal timeline - one that gives your personal content more meaningful context; and allows the world to better understand how users are engaging historical content. 

 

Our mission is to streamline access to histories all over the world, especially those at risk of being lost - using augmented reality (and later virtual reality), in order to uncover new understandings of the past.

 

How does it work?

Institutional and independent PIVOTeers upload the most pivotal events in their area of expertise on the PIVOTtheWorld premium dashboard for end users to see on a free mobile app, (end users on the mobile app can also digitize their own personal timelines to share on social media as they see fit).

 

Then all that information is available to be viewed either on-site or remotely via augmented reality or virtual reality media (in the form of images, video, or text-audio content).
